The Clifton Village Community Association (CVCA) has arranged a new memorial stone for those Clifton men who died in WWll. The existing memorial in the memorial garden is for those lost in WWl – there is only a short statement referring to those lost in WWll due to lack of space.
The CVCA is very grateful to Rand & Asquith for generously donating the stone and foundation stone. We also are grateful to Calderdale Council who has paid for the installation (through a successful grant application) and to Calderdale Council Bereavement Services who has generously paid half the cost of the engraving.
The CVCA have funded the balance.
The CVCA did plan to have a formal dedication on 8 May (VE Day) but everything was delayed due to the coronavirus. The CVCA is planning to dedicate the stone on VJ Day celebration weekend, Sunday, 16th August – you may want to put the date in your diary
